Job Description

Atlas Coffee Importers is looking for someone to join our sales team! The ideal candidate is team-oriented, works well in a fast-paced environment, and could talk green coffee for hours.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Responsibilities 

  • Grow Atlas’s client list and sales volume through outreach, in-person visits, industry events, and other business development activities. 
  • Identify, qualify, and maintain new sales leads, including keeping lead records and next steps current. 
  • Onboard new customers, manage prospect follow-up, sampling, and usage/needs tracking to convert leads into first orders and support territory sales forecasting. 

Account Management Responsibilities 

  • Retain assigned accounts and drive regular contracting activity across the account base, working toward established sales volume and revenue targets 
  • Maintain regular, meaningful, proactive communication with existing clients by phone, email, in-person visits, and participation in industry events 
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries and work to resolve  
  • Maintain awareness of customer positions, usage, overall volume/capacity, buying strategies, and general business operations; conduct and document periodic client position reviews to identify buying opportunities 
  • Accurately communicate pricing, availability, and quality; exercise sound judgment with pricing concessions in support of both volume and margin goals 
  • Gain familiarity with Atlas’ portfolio of coffees through regular cupping with QC and Sales/Trading teams 

Specialized Knowledge

Green coffee quality evaluation and cupping, coffee market fundamentals, customer account management and contract administration.

Qualifications & Training:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in the coffee industry, with exposure to green coffee, quality management, sourcing, trading, sales, or customer account management.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a group setting.
  • Enjoys building relationships and is a creative problem-solver.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success in sales, account management, or business development.
  • Demonstrated experience managing customer relationships and driving account growth.
  • Professional development in negotiation, account management, or supply chain management.
  • Training in customer relationship management (CRM) systems and sales processes.
  • Knowledge of coffee production, processing, and contract terms and conditions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support customer and business requirements.
