Position Overview
The Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing new business, managing existing accounts, and executing the annual sales plan. This role blends sales, marketing, account management, relationship stewardship, and sustainability advocacy. Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development
- Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities with specialty roasters, importers, and other key buyers.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline, proactively driving outreach to prospective customers.
- Represent the company’s unique value proposition—quality, traceability, and origin impact.
2. Deliver the Sales Plan
- Meet or exceed annual revenue, margin, and volume targets.
- Execute all stages of the sales cycle—from outreach to contract closure.
- Coordinate sampling, cupping sessions, and follow-up communications to drive conversions.
3. Account Management
- Manage ongoing relationships with existing customers through regular communication and touchpoints.
- Ensure customer satisfaction, troubleshoot issues, and identify opportunities for account growth.
- Forecast client demand and maintain visibility of upcoming purchases to support operational planning.
4. Marketing Activities
- Collaborate on marketing initiatives that elevate brand awareness and drive qualified leads.
- Support the creation of newsletters, social campaigns, cupping events, and educational materials.
- Ensure marketing messages are aligned with company values and sales goals.
5. Sales Strategy & Projections
- Work with leadership to develop annual sales plans, pricing strategies, and forecasting models.
- Analyze market trends and customer behavior to inform strategy and allocation decisions.
- Translate strategy into actionable monthly and quarterly goals.
6. Sustainability & Origin Project Promotion
- Act as an ambassador for the company’s sustainability and community development initiatives at origin.
- Educate clients about producer training programs, women’s empowerment projects, and community development.
- Collaborate with clients interested in co-funding or sponsoring origin-based initiatives.
- Translate project impact into stories, reports, and sales value propositions.
7. Leadership, Management & Accountability
- Model a leadership approach grounded in clarity, communication, and accountability.
- Set clear expectations for workflow, reporting, and performance within the sales function.
- Create a positive environment that supports collaboration, transparency, and personal ownership.
- Help establish systems and processes that strengthen departmental effectiveness.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in specialty coffee sales, business development, or account management.
- Strong understanding of green coffee, the specialty sector, and supply chain dynamics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust quickly.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a small-business environment.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and comfortable using CRM systems.
- Experience or interest in sustainability, origin projects, or international development is a plus.
- Willingness to travel for client visits, trade shows, and occasional origin trips.
