Freelance / Part-Time | Remote | $150 per Completed Product Listing
Coffee Bros. is looking for a Technical Coffee & Equipment Writer to help us build and expand the equipment side of our e-commerce business.
This is a flexible, project-based role for someone who understands specialty coffee, is comfortable researching coffee and espresso equipment, and can turn highly technical manufacturer information into polished, accurate, conversion-ready product pages.
Our ideal candidate sits somewhere between a coffee professional, technical researcher, e-commerce content manager, and copywriter. You don't need to be an espresso machine technician, but you should understand coffee equipment well enough to know what information matters, where to find it, and how to explain it to someone considering a purchase.
The initial project will consist of a minimum of 15 equipment listings at $150 per completed listing, with significant potential for additional equipment, editorial, and content work for the right person.
Coffee Bros. already has established Shopify product-page templates and examples of completed equipment listings.
Your job will be to take a new or minimally developed equipment listing and turn it into a complete, customer-ready product page.
For each product, you will independently research and gather the information needed to build the page. This may include working within equipment manufacturers' PIM systems, locating and reviewing product manuals and technical PDFs, researching manufacturer websites, gathering specifications, and sourcing approved product imagery.
You will then translate that information into a finished Coffee Bros. product page.
Responsibilities will include:
First and foremost, you should know coffee.
This position is intended for someone who already understands the specialty coffee industry and has a genuine interest in the equipment used to make great coffee.
You might currently or previously have worked as a barista, roaster, coffee educator, equipment salesperson, technician, café manager, coffee writer, content creator, or within another part of the specialty coffee industry.
You should have:
Previous experience with an equipment retailer, espresso machine manufacturer or distributor, coffee roaster, café, or specialty coffee publication is highly desirable.
Hands-on experience with espresso equipment is a major plus.
This is not a traditional hourly writing position.
The initial project will consist of a minimum of 15 product listings at $150 per completed listing, representing at least $2,250 in initial project work.
Coffee Bros. will provide access to our established Shopify product-page structure, examples of completed pages, brand guidelines, and relevant manufacturer resources or PIM systems where applicable.
From there, we are looking for someone capable of taking ownership of the process.
You should be comfortable starting with a relatively bare product listing, independently finding the information and assets required, and returning a polished page that requires minimal additional work before publication.
After reviewing applications and relevant work samples, we expect to select a small number of finalists to complete one paid product listing at our standard $150 per-listing rate.
Finalists will be given the same coffee equipment product and access to our existing Shopify product-page framework.
The assignment will reflect the actual work involved in the position: researching manufacturer resources, locating technical documentation, gathering specifications and imagery, writing and organizing the content, preparing web-ready images, and building the finished page in Shopify.
We will evaluate the completed assignment based on:
The selected writer will then move into our initial batch of 15+ paid product listings.
While the initial project is specifically focused on equipment product pages, our larger goal is to find someone with whom we can develop an ongoing relationship.
Writers who demonstrate exceptional technical knowledge, research ability, copywriting, reliability, and a strong understanding of the specialty coffee industry may have opportunities to expand into:
For select assignments, Coffee Bros. may also provide equipment directly to the writer for extended hands-on use and evaluation, with the opportunity to keep select equipment in exchange for comprehensive testing and editorial coverage.
These assignments would go well beyond compiling manufacturer specifications. We want writers who can actually brew with, test, evaluate, and understand the equipment, then translate that experience into credible and useful content for our customers.
For someone deeply interested in specialty coffee and equipment, this role has the potential to grow considerably beyond the initial product-listing project.
Coffee Bros. is an independent specialty coffee company founded by brothers Dan and Nick.
We believe exceptional coffee is built through collaboration—from the relationship between producer and roaster to the balance between art and science required to brew an exceptional cup.
Alongside our roasted coffee program, we offer a curated selection of espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment.
Our goal is not simply to sell equipment.
We want to give customers the information, education, and context they need to understand what they are buying, why particular features matter, and which equipment is right for the way they make coffee.
That same philosophy should come through in every product page and piece of equipment content we publish.

We're particularly interested in hearing from people who already participate in the specialty coffee community and understand the difference between repeating a manufacturer's specifications and explaining why those specifications actually matter to the person buying the equipment.
If you love coffee equipment, enjoy digging through technical information, and know how to turn that information into useful and compelling content, we'd like to hear from you.
By thoughtful coffee farm selections and non-profit partnerships to help create a more sustainable world, my brother, Nick, and I have been able to offer incredibly fresh coffees while also giving back to coffee-growing communities since 2019.
Our small business is a full-spectrum roastery that transcends all taste horizons through signature light, medium, dark roast, single origins, and specialty lot profiles. Our coffees are an intricate display of taste notes; from fragrant and aromatic to the bold and rich.
We will be the first NFT funded café space through our growing NFT project called, Crypto Baristas. Crypto Baristas combines the digital and physical world by raising funds for café spaces, the first one being our flagship location in NYC. The project looks to continue to expand Coffee Bros. and its presence throughout New York.
