At Katï Coffee, we approach roasting as both a sensory craft and a technical process, using data, structured evaluation, and thoughtful systems to pursue clarity and consistency. We’re hiring a Production Roaster to lead roasting and help manage the physical flow of coffee through our production environment, from green handling to finished product.

Core Responsibilities

This role is centered on roasting execution, quality control, and production ownership, with additional responsibility for supporting smooth day-to-day operations. It requires strong ownership of daily roasting, product quality, and production consistency.

Roasting & Quality

  • Roast all production coffee with consistency and attention to detail
  • Execute and maintain roast profiles
  • Monitor roast data and adjust to ensure consistency
  • Contribute to profile refinement through cupping, data, and prior experience
  • Participate in regular cupping and quality evaluation

Production & Coffee Handling

  • Maintain inventory accuracy (green and roasted)
  • Keep production workflows clean, organized, and repeatable
  • Maintain organized and consistent production workflows

Equipment & Roastery Operations

  • Perform routine equipment cleaning, calibration, and maintenance
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify issues early
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace

General Business Support

  • Support overall production flow to ensure smooth business operations
  • Engage with customers as needed, providing a welcoming and informative experience
  • Support order intake and processing, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment
  • Assist with packaging and order fulfillment as needed
  • Actively participate in general organization of the roastery; cleaning, stocking and other duties

Qualifications

We value candidates who bring experience from other roasting environments and can apply it thoughtfully. An ideal candidate has the following:

  • Demonstrated interest in coffee as both a craft and a process-driven discipline
  • Prior production roasting experience
  • Familiarity with Probat or similar drum roasters
  • Experience maintaining roasting equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in repetitive processes
  • Ability to follow structured workflows while contributing thoughtful insights & improvements
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time independently in a production setting
  • Comfort working with both sensory evaluation (taste, aroma) and data (profiles, logs, metrics)
  • Clear communication and ability to work collaboratively in a small team
  • Willingness to learn from mistakes and continuously refine approach
  • Familiar with MS Office suite (proficiency valued)

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role takes place in an active manufacturing / production environment with machinery and moderate to high noise levels (hearing protection provided). Physical demands include:

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the production space for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move coffee bags and equipment (typically 50–75 lbs; team lift or tools used when appropriate)
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motion during production and packaging
  • Ability to work in a warm production environment
  • Use of smell and taste as part of daily quality control and evaluation
