Job Description

Summary:

This is an excellent opportunity to join the North American division of a green (raw) coffee trading company called Falcon Coffees.  We buy green coffee from coffee farmers around the world and sell it to coffee roasters throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.  We have offices in England, Ethiopia, Germany, Malaysia, Peru, and Austin TX.  The Austin office was established in 2017 and over the past 7 years we've built up a team of sales, logistics, coffee quality, and sustainability experts.  We have a very dynamic and focused team and we've seen significant growth and are looking for a Junior Coffee Trader to support this growth. The Junior Coffee Trader will assist with trading execution and account management for the North American market to help grow Falcon’s buyer base and increase company profitability.     

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Manage all contract entry and editing for purchase and sales contracts into Falcon’s contract management system for the North America market.  This includes the initial contract entry upon business confirmation as well as any contract edits as needed if there are changes to pricing, destination, origin, etc.
  • Lead daily communication and interaction with the support of Falcon’s Managing Director with one of Falcon’s key accounts
  • Support Falcon’s Trade team with account management for all North American roaster customers
  • Work with Falcon’s origin partners to onboard supply chains to responsible sourcing programs and ensure ongoing compliance
  • Monitor contracts to ensure on-time performance and take action as needed to resolve issues
  • Gather offer pricing from origin as requested by roaster customers or other traders
  • Manage Falcon’s compliance to buyers’ contract and responsible sourcing requirements
  • Seek out and develop new customer relationships for Falcon North America
  • Sell coffees from Falcon’s existing stock position
  • Gather origin information as requested
  • Build costing templates for offers to roaster customers
  • Support the management of origin impact projects alongside Falcon’s Sustainability team
  • Generate reports and perform data analysis as requested by management.
  • Attend weekly Trade and Logistics meetings.

Secondary responsibilities include:

  • Develop cupping skills to represent the commercial trading team on the cupping table
  • Attend tradeshows, visit buyers, and origin partners as needed

Desired experience and skills:

  • Coffee experience preferred but not required.
  • 4-year university degree
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Superb written and verbal communication
  • Proactive and able to work independently
  • Focused on outstanding customer service
  • Flexible and able to multi-task
