Job Description

Position Summary:

The role of Commodities Manager reports to the Sr. Director of Commodities in a fast paced, dynamic environment.  Primary responsibilities include management of major client positions, including Dunkin, Costco, Kraft and Corporate Brands clients.   Candidate will be responsible for the execution and management of futures hedging and position monitoring, including working with clients to reconcile futures position and quarterly pricing.  As Commodities Manager, candidate will lead sourcing projects, working closely with the VP of Sustainability and the MZBG Sustainability Working Group and sales management to promote responsible sourcing for MZB and MZBG.

Key Duties:

  • Manage futures hedging positions for major MZB clients.   Includes futures execution, positional transfers of client physical and future assets, as well as reconciliation with clients.
  • Track and manage physical coffee requirements for major MZB clients.   Includes interpretation of multiple sales and production reports, working with internal sales teams and external clients.
  • Position management for major food service clients, including hedging strategies, reporting and physical coffee requirement analysis.
  • Manage MZB trading/hedging account daily including forecasting margin requirements and gain/loss reporting.
  • Contributing to MZBG Policies on Responsible Sourcing, Environment, and Quality with MZBG
  • Reporting out on behalf of MZB USA per the needs of the Responsible Sourcing Working Group
  • Driving initiative(s) for Sustainable Coffee Challenge action items and collaborating with MZBG/Responsible Sourcing Working Group
  • Participate on monthly calls for the following action networks: Labor, Responsible Sourcing, Renovation and Rehabilitation, and Mapping and Monitoring
  • Maintain and monitor vendor exposure reports as part of the overall risk management strategy.
  • Evaluate plant floor and warehouse inventories to ensure inventory accuracy, quality and pricing alignment.
  • Participate in daily quality assurance via cupping of green coffee
  • Provide support to MZB sales and finance teams via market knowledge and statistics
  • Identify, communicate MZB Commodities’ interests with IT in generating new reports/editing existing reports

Qualifications/Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

  • 4 year Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Information Science/Systems or Math
  •  CQI Q Arabica Grader
  • Proven ability to perform under tight deadlines with high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data is a must
