The Role:

The Production Roaster is a critical member of OZO’s Roasting and Production Team. This individual is responsible for roasting OZO coffee, managing warehouse coffee inventory, maintaining roasting equipment, and upholding cleanliness and organic warehouse standards and practices. We are a small company where communicating effectively and having a team-player attitude is essential. Working in a safe manner and maintaining a clean and organized warehouse is paramount. Our team has pride producing excellent coffee and is interested in continuing to improve and expand our coffee knowledge, and we would love our Production Roaster to share that passion!

 

Responsibilities:

-Uphold company standards of excellence by making decisions that positively affect the wellbeing of your teammates, customers, and yourself

-Safely operate all coffee production equipment

-Maintain an organized and sanitary work environment at all times (during and after your shift) - including the roastery and training lab

-Execute proper, safe operation of production roasting machines

-Perform cleaning and maintenance of the coffee roasters and roasting accessories

-Assist with cleaning of production supplies (scales, buckets, scoops, etc.)

-Support maintenance in the warehouse (Hydrofogger, air compressor, etc.)

-Weigh and prepare green coffee for roasting in accordance with daily roasting

schedule

-Roast coffees to profile while maintaining a passing score from Cropster (no failed goals) by following roast-specific instructions

-Record roast data both digitally (using Cropster) and by hand

-Alert and communicate with the Roasting Manager when roasts deviate/fail

-Pull various production roast samples (including on-profile and any deviations) for cupping evaluation

-Execute all tasks with safety and efficiency in mind

-Communicate early and often with teammates and managers to solve problems when they arise

-Contribute thoughtful ideas and suggestions for improving operations

-Operate forklift

-Assist the entire warehouse team with various tasks as needed

-Assist with Production (packaging, order fulfillment) as needed

 

Requirements:

-Demonstrate a passion for excellence

-Ability to lift 80+ lb unassisted

-Ability to team-lift 160+ lb

-Ability to drag 160 lb bags of green coffee

-Ability to stay calm in a demanding roastery environment

-Ability to be on your feet for the majority of an 8-hour shift

-Preferred 1+ years roasting experience

 

Compensation:

-Competitive pay commensurate with experience - $20 - $23/hr

-Non-exempt, full-time

Schedule:

   Monday – Friday, 7:30 – 3:30
