Job Description

Seeking business manager for fast-growing, national coffee roaster based in Houston, TX. Ideal candidates should possess a strong go-getter attitude and ability to get things done or figure out how. This role has a lot of autonomy so it’s important to be a self-starter who can take initiative and work independently and remotely. Our company is strictly and vehemently committed to high quality, strong performance, and excellence. Position will be the all-around right-hand for exec/founding team.

  • Comfortable communicating via phone, email, and in-person, clearly and effectively
  • Excellent critical and analytical thinking with a strong grasp of project/portfolio management needs
  • Strong problem-solving ability through the development and execution of innovative solutions
  • Extremely well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage a team of up to 5 people
  • Some understanding of marketing and social media concepts and trends

 Recurring Responsibilities

 HR/Business Operations

  • Run weekly/biweekly payroll
  • Maintain work schedule
  • Recruit, interview, and onboard candidates for part-time positions
  • Maintain policies and procedures

 Accounting/Finance/Legal

  • Review and manage financials with accounting
  • Create budget based on reviewing, categorizing and analyzing company expenses
  • Grant writing research and applications
  • Generate invoices for orders as needed
  • Determine pricing for coffee and conduct margin analysis
  • Procurement of supplies

 Customer Service

  • Respond thoughtfully to customer email inquiries
  • Organize and respond timely to emails received
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve in a quick, efficient, and detailed manner

 Strategy & Growth Management

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaborations
  • Identify opportunities to increase retail/wholesale sales
  • Manage multiple ongoing projects and ensure they remain on track and within scope
  • Research, identify, and execute continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency and productivity

 Education & Technical Skills

  • College degree required (in any field)
  • MS Office: Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook
  • Experience with Asana, Monday, MS Project, or other project management and productivity tools
  • Online Point of Sale Systems such as Shopify or Square
  • Basic web design capability or familiarity (or aptitude to learn)
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator or other design tools is a plus
  • Experience with Quickbooks, Gusto, or other similar payroll and/or budgeting tools
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools

Industry/Functional Skills

  • Food and beverage industry (restaurant, cafe, or other similar business)
