Roasters trust us to bring them the best coffees we can find from the best people we can find producing for specialty. Within this work there are more stories than there is time to tell them, and we are looking for a Manager of Communication and Digital Journalism who can alchemize our work into stories, events and programs that capture the people and processes that make our offers unique. The primary responsibility of this position will be to better inform and engage our existing community of customers, continuing our strategy of growing from within.
Specifically, this involves (1) interviewing experts within Crop to Cup’s sales, sourcing and QC teams, (2) organizing this content to publish through email lists, websites and social media, (3) tracking and improving the effectiveness of communications through analytics, and (4) taking ultimate responsibility for the quality of customers’ interactions with the company through these platforms.
This will be done by executing against an annual content calendar that contains all updates, events and other proactive and planned communications. The primary audience is the community of roasters who enable the work we do, be that through croptocup.com or showroomcoffee.com. Goals for this position will look at impact on customer loyalty, engagement and access to information.
The role of communications planning and execution also involves overall responsibility for our websites (working with a team of developers), industry expos and other promotional events.
This position requires a persuasive writer with a natural voice - a coffee journalist who loves surfacing stories and advocating with compelling digital content. The position will require a deep participation in specialty coffee, and the role requires the candidate to bring their passion and lived experience in the industry into their storytelling.
While the job can be staffed from anywhere, location at or near our Brooklyn or Chicago office is preferred. Expect some travel related to meeting other members of the team, for events, and to pursue industry or media initiatives as needed.
